Union of Seed Potato Producers of Iran

The union was founded in 1999 by few pioneering farmers and currently is boasting more than 102 leading farmers as its members all over Iran, 40% of whom are collage graduates.In cooperation with and under supervision of the vegetable office, the plant protection agency, and the institute for registrations and certification of seeds and plants of the ministry of Jahad Agriculture, USPPI utilizes imported and domestic seed-tubers and mini-tubers of chosen varieties and provides the farmers with healthy and vigorous seed tubers which are highly in demand.With more than 4,500 hectares under cultivation nation-wide and a storage capacity exceeding 100,000 Mtns, the union members are able to provide seeds for every market including fresh consumption, processing and industrial use, at any time with favorable conditions.Using the latest information and technology and benefiting from the expertise of its technical advisers, the union is capable of providing consultation to potato farmers on topics such as introduction of suitable varieties, mechanization, design and operation of cold storage facilities...The union of potato seed producers of Iran (Royan Bazer Gostar Co.) is run by a board of directors, elected biennially by the shareholders. Mr. Mehdi Ehyaei, Mr. Farzin Bahrami, Mr. Jafar Hanaei, Mr. Morteza Azadi and Mr. Roham Rabiei are the current members of the board of directors .
